homeworkflow evolutions
this site is a place to note some general workflows that are being impacted by generative ai tools, with a particular interest in widely consumed products (e.g., Google Search Generative Experience or a large company like Microsoft's Copilot, including updates to physical buttons
instant, quality outputs
- a small business owner google's `logo design for plumbing company` to find a local agency / freelance designer.
- what happens if they are now presented with a free generated logo + the option to explore more ideas?
- what happens when agents can automagically implement the logo using their current tools?
and in a near-distant future, what happens when people search for a ‘plumber’ and find cheaper synthetic options?
what happens to creativity, especially the beauty of staring at, then breaking-through the ‘blank page’ anxiety?
will people choose high-fidelity synthetic experiences if they promise a pain-free experience (physical + emotional)?
early explorations & wild results
when i’d explore ideas in 2022 with diffusionbee, the model required cryptic phrasing to get wild results (none of which were things i was imagining).

results were usually better with a negative prompt.
now, dalle•3 automagically re-writes and adds more details to prompts.
this means that people don’t have to be ‘prompt engineers’ they can simply type some words and explore.
you don’t even have to go text-first, people can explore generated image ideas and continue to iterate.
free access

the software price barrier is also removed, because people can get free access to chatgpt-4 + dalle•3 by downloading the Edge Browser (immediately update your homepage to start at https://copilot.microsoft.com/)

note: you can also visit copilot.microsoft.com from a different browser, but the copilot integration is worth exploring, especially if you’re on a Mac (helps see how this pattern might spread through the Window’s ecosystem).
moretocome
i’m still getting my ideas on how work will be defined and how people might be ‘valued’ within a future organization.
